Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to my blog.  We have finished our first week of school and are settling into our routine.   I would like to share with you some very important classroom dates and activities.

1.     PALS – All of 2^nd grade has begun the PALS  (Phonological Awareness and Literacy Screening) testing.  This testing will begin the week of September 15 and continue through early October. As you may know, CAES uses PALS to assess the reading skills of student.

2.     Social Studies 9-Weeks Test  - We will have our first 2nd grade benchmark test in just 3 1/2 weeks.  I will provide you with the exact date as soon as it is set.  It is important to review all SS content nightly in order to prepare your child. The test will cover all citizenship, community, and mapping information in your child’s SS interactive notebook.

3.     The BoxTop Contest is coming!  Check your pantry for boxtops and send them in.  Perhaps your relatives and friends would like to help.  Each BoxTop is work 10 cents to CAES.   Keep ‘em coming!

9/9 - PTA Meeting @ 7 pm
9/16 - WatchDog Pizza Kickoff
9/17 - Early Dismissal @ 1:00 pm
9/18 - Picture Day for K/1st
9/19 - Picture Day for 2nd/3rd 
9/23 - Back to School Night @ 7 pm
9/29 - Custodian Appreciation Week 
10/1 - Fall Fundraiser Kickoff
