                                    February News

It is hard to believe that we are ready to begin the second semester.  There will
be many activities going on during this short month.  We will be studying many new
concepts.

Math – money, time, measurement, calendar, & continue to work on addition/
subtraction with regrouping

Social Studies – Famous Americans, Ancient China, Ancient Egypt

Writing – “How To Articles”  ( story map, rough draft, edit, final draft)

Handwriting – begin the transition to cursive writing

Science – Plants   


                                    Important Dates

February 1st – NATIONAL HEART MONTH – WEAR RED TO SCHOOL
Groundhog  Day  Celebration – bring books or poems about the groundhog

February 5th – Report Cards will be sent home, please sign the
envelope and return it tomorrow

February 12th – PTA Meeting and Math Fest

February 13th – Bring in a typed copy of your favorite recipe.
We will share them during language arts.

February 14th – Please send in cards and a treat to exchange. (not candy)  Your child will need to decorate a box or bag to put the
cards in.  Some suggestions are: lollipops, goldfish crackers, small
bags of pretzels, granola bars, small bags of chips, crayons, pencils,
eraser tops, juice boxes, M & M’s, or doughnut holes. Please
let me know what you will be sending. I will be sending a list of names
so the students will be able to work on their cards.

February 15th - $10.00 due for special programs, a Theatre IV play,
and a field trip.

February 18th – Student Holiday/ President’s Day
